Then I copy/pasted all my reminders from iCloud to Exchange. I added Exchange as a backend to Reminders using System Preferences.

I’ll have to figure out how to recover the data from TimeMachine tonight. I don’t think there’s even a way to delete all of the lists and groups at once.Īs far as I can tell the data is now permanently gone from both locations with no option to undo or backup. I very very definitely did not accidentally delete the wrong thing. One moment there was only a single list remaining in iCloud (and everything as it should be under Microsoft) and then as I deleted the final list, everything under Microsoft disappeared as well. It happened very quickly so I’m not exactly sure what happened, but what I think happened is that as I deleted the very last list of reminders in iCloud (so nothing remained under iCloud reminders) it also deleted everything under Microsoft. The following day (today) I verified that everything had copied across successfully to Microsoft and then used Reminders.app to delete the iCloud copy of my reminders. I closed Reminders.app and left it over night, double checked that everything was safe in both locations (ICloud and Microsoft). I copy and pasted all my reminders from the iCloud section of Reminders.app to Microsoft.

Using Reminders.app I created a matching set of Lists and Groups in the Microsoft section of Reminders.app. Using System Preferences I added a Microsoft account and enabled Reminders (no other services).

This allows him to share reminders with me using Microsoft ToDo.

I needed to share my reminders with someone on a Windows computer so decided to use the Microsoft reminders backend with the Apple Reminders.app.

If I don't use Goodtask to close off reminders and just use the Reminders app, there is no syncing issue.Īs much as I love Goodtask, this syncing issue means I am not able to use it as a full replacement for Reminders.Arg! Reminders.app just ate 10 years of my accumulated brain. So I need to then go back to macOS Reminders or Goodtask and roll it back one day, to get everything synced again. What makes it worse is that if I go to close off the (wrongly open) daily tasks on Reminders on iOS to try to get them synced with Reminders macOS, Goodtask macOS and iOS and to prevent wrong alerts/notifications coming up, then on my macOS they are then wrongly closed off a further time, in other words, they move forward another day. I am also still getting incorrect Reminders alerts/notifications on iOS and bizarrely on macOS for these closed tasks, even though when I open the Reminders app on macOS, they are shown as closed off. Reminders and Goodtask on macOS are synced, Goodtask on IOS is synced also BUT.Reminders on iOS is not synced it is wrongly showing some recurring reminders (that I had earlier closed off on macOS) as still being open.

I will email some screen grabs as this issue for me still has not resolved itself. I have turned off Reminders on IOS and also signed out of iCloud on my iPhone, but the issue keeps happening. This is not happening for one specific daily reminder it happens for many different reminders.

So I then have to go into GoodTask on my Mac and untick the reminder so that it brings it back to being due tomorrow. So, therefore, I go to tick off this unsynced daily reminder in Reminders on IOS but it then registers as a further tick off on GoodTask and Reminders on my Mac so the reminder has now been pushed back another day. So a few hours later, I get a notification on my iPhone to say that this reminder is now due so when I check Reminders on IOS, the reminder is still there as 'due for today'. So both apps on the Mac show that the daily reminder is now due tomorrow. There is something not right in the syncing between GoodTask and Reminders across both IOS and macOS.Īs an example, when I go to tick off a recurring daily reminder in GoodTask on my Mac, it will then sync with Reminders also on my Mac.
